Complete step-by-step mounting and stacking procedure for CPS-BXC200 series
Leave at least 50mm clearance above and below for ventilation (fanless passive cooling requires airflow). Leave 30mm on sides for cable routing and I/O connector access.
Never connect AC voltage to DC terminals. Verify polarity before powering ON. Reverse polarity will damage the unit.
Calculate total power: 36W (controller) + 3.3A Ă— number of I/O modules Ă— 24V. Use 90W PSU for 1-6 modules, 120W PSU for 7-8 modules.
CONPROSYS I/O modules connect via stack bus (24VDC 3.3A power distribution + Ethernet communication). No external wiring needed between modules. Maximum 8 modules per controller.

Storage technology comparison and selection guide
Choose pSLC if you log data frequently (<10 second interval) or run database applications. Choose MLC if storage is mostly read-only (OS, applications, configuration files). For critical infrastructure (water, power), always use pSLC for maximum reliability.
Network configuration and multi-LAN setup
Yes, all 3 LAN ports can be used simultaneously with independent IP addresses. Each port appears as a separate network adapter in Windows.
Only one LAN port should have a default gateway configured. If multiple ports have gateways, Windows will use the one with the lowest metric (typically LAN1). For isolated control networks (LAN2), leave gateway field empty.
I/O expansion limits and power calculation
Custom OS installation and boot options
Yes, base models (CPS-BXC200-M02M03A/M02M03B/M02M04A/M02M04B) have no OS pre-installed and are designed for custom OS installation. You have full control over the operating system.
USB → CFast → M.2 SSDFor custom Linux installations, you need CONPROSYS I/O Library drivers for I/O module access. Contact support@contec.com for Linux driver package (includes kernel modules for Ubuntu/Debian/CentOS). Windows drivers are included in CONPROSYS I/O Library installer.
Understanding Windows LTSB vs standard Windows
LTSB (Long-Term Servicing Branch) is a special edition of Windows 10 designed for industrial and mission-critical systems that require stability over new features.
A pharmaceutical company validated their batch control system with Standard Windows 10 (version 1809). Six months later, Windows forced update to version 1903, which broke the third-party data acquisition driver. Result: 3 days production downtime and $500K+ revenue loss. With LTSB, this would never happen—the OS stays stable for 10 years.
FDA 21 CFR Part 11, IEC 62443, and similar regulations require validated system configurations that cannot change unexpectedly. LTSB's 10-year stable baseline makes compliance validation simple—validate once, maintain validation for the entire product lifecycle.
McAfee security availability and operation
McAfee Application Control (Whitelist) is only included in Model CPS-BXC200-W10M02M03B (premium model with McAfee + Edgecross). Other models do not include McAfee and cannot add it later (hardware-locked license).
To install new software or updates after enabling Protection Mode: (1) Temporarily disable McAfee Protection, (2) Install software, (3) Re-enable Protection Mode (new files auto-added to whitelist), (4) Test thoroughly. Document this process for audit compliance.
Hardware upgrade options and limitations
Replacing the primary M.2 SSD (pre-installed) will void warranty. Use expansion M.2 slot or CFast slot for additional storage instead. If you need a larger primary SSD, order the correct configuration at purchase time.
Temperature limits with 1000BASE-T vs 100BASE-TX
When using 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet mode, maximum operating temperature is reduced to 55°C (instead of 60°C). This is due to higher power consumption and heat generation of Gigabit PHY chips.
If your application environment temperature stays below 55°C, use Gigabit mode (default, faster). If temperature can exceed 55°C (e.g., near furnaces, outdoor summer), configure to 100Mbps mode. For most factory floors with HVAC, 55°C limit is not a concern.
Edgecross platform access and language support
Edgecross platform is currently Japanese language only. The App Store, documentation, and UI are all in Japanese. English/Chinese/Korean versions are planned for 2026 but not yet available.
Edgecross is only included in Model CPS-BXC200-W10M02M03B (premium model). Other models do not include Edgecross and cannot add it later.
